These short training programs are aimed at anyone who works with tourists, or has an interest in getting into the tourism sector.
Responsible Tourism - What does responsible tourism mean and what issues does it include? What do we do about tourism that is NOT responsible? How can we have conversations with tourists to promote responsible tourism? These are some of the questions this training will address, looking at responsible travel on the sides of both tourists and tour operators, and how they can work together to create a more sustainable industry.
Cultural Sensitivity - How can we talk to tourists about how to respect Nepali culture? What can we do when tourists are not respectful? How can we make sure that we respect the culture the tourist comes from? If these questions interest you, then this short training is for you. Including cultural sensitivity as part of your program can be key to making a tourists experience great, and understanding how to be respectful to their culture can mean the difference between a recommendation or not.
Child Protection - What are the impacts of issues like children begging or working and 'orphanage tourism'? How can we talk about these issues with tourists? If we think children are being exploited somewhere, what can we do? The conversation around 'voluntourism' is very loud at the moment, and at the heart of this is the impact that short-term, untrained volunteers an have on children in a care setting. At Nirmana Nepal we believe this is a key issue, not just in the tourism sector but in society in general, and it is our privilege to be able to train around this subject. If we were to suggest one training from our catalogue, it would be this one.
